Dear All,I would like to share how a complaint about the inappropriate treatment received in the A&E department has led to huge improvements. In the past when I have gone to hospital because the medication I have at home wasn't working, I have been left to wait for hours, been given inadquate doses of morphine & given incorrect advice re. opiates. Since my complaint my case is now used in the induction training for all staff working in A&E & it has made a huge difference. I was seen within 20 minutes (as per hospital guidelines), given a 20mgs intravenous loading dose, they came back every 10 minutes to give me more if I was still in pain & after 70mgs my pain was under control. They were confident about treating an opiate tolerant patient & were evenkind to me! A far cry from previous treatment & a great outcome from a complaint. Please do not accept poor treatment.Alison
