Following Dr. Shipman who killed some of his patients with over doses of Diamorphine this drug has been rarely used in the UK. However A Saudi Urologist, knowing nothing of the 'Shipam effect' found that Diamorphine worked very well for kidney pain.It is the only drug that I take that actually relieves the pain & it has to be given by self-injection as the pain is so severe I cannot wait the hour it takes for my oral medication to kick in.It can be taken orally but would not work as quickly. It may be something someone may wish to try. I find it has few side effects (only constipationafter initial nausea) & certainly less side effects than Oxycodone. It seems to go straight to the kidney rather than all over the body.Best wishes to you allAlison
