Hi My name is Lynne & I live in Sydney Australia. I have just been diagnosed with LPHS after many tests, after spending two weeks in hospital because the pain was so bad I also had very severe cramping. Since leaving the hospital about two weeks ago I have seen my GP who said it would be a good idea for me to go to the pain management clinic, after filling in many forms for them they have said it will be at least 3 months before I get in. I would really like to know what I am supposed to do in the meantime, I am in so much pain I don't want to go back into the hospital again. I was wondering if I go back to my GP is there anything he might be able to give me whilst I am waiting. I went into hospital about 7 years ago with the same thing but it has only been after the pain returned this time & all the good work that was done in the hospital that I finally have a diagnosis it is just a shame the this condition seems to be so rare that there doesn't seem to be many treatments out there. I am 44 & love to go out & enjoy my life so I would love to get this thing under control if anyone knows of anything that could help me I would appreciate it.?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" />

Hi Lynne,

Make the appointment with the pain management doctors.  In the meantime, go back to your GP.  Any physician with an ounce of compassion -- as well as intelligence -- should understand that sometime the wheels of progress move slowly.  He/she shouldn't have any problem with providing you adequate pain medication for the short term until you can get in to see the pain specialists.  It's important that you have the appointment made so that your GP will see that you are serious about getting better and getting help.  It may also help to have your GPs office contact the pain management clinic.  Sometimes another doctor can get you in sooner.

Good luck to you, Lynne.  Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.

Kim
