Dear All,I was originally told that I have LPHS & then many years later found (on a standing IVU) that I had a hypermobile kidney & the renal colic was caused by the ureter kinking. I had the kidney fixed in place & the pain on that side was cured. The other side needs fixing. I have since found research from a doctor in Saudi showing that nephroptosis can lead on to LPHS & that there may well be a link between the two conditions. Interestingly he says that like the patients many research doctors are not believed especially since the conditions were disparaged 50 years ago.Anyone interested in seeing this research can contact me for details.Ihave madea presentation about nephroptosis& living with kidney pain & it is being presented at the National Kidney Federation conference this weekend but someone is presenting it for me as Iam in too much pain to go. I often wonder why LPHS is so poorly known about when there are so many sufferers. Someone with LPHS could do a talk at the kidney conference next year in order to raise awareness.I have also written an article onwww.kidney.orgunder perceptions about living with kidney pain& designed a leafletPlease do all you can to educate your local health professionals & population about LPHS. My case is now used in the induction training of doctros to our local A&E department& Ihave been asked to write an article for the BMJ in association with the A&E consultant in an attempt to challenge their views on pain management & treating people with severe kidney pain. i have also written an article for a magazine. In case you think that you are in too much pain to do anything like thisI would like to encourage you as I have to take Diamorphine (Heroin) & Oxycodone to relieve the pain, cannot work& spend a lot of time on the floor in agony. However when I can sit long enough I can use a keyboard& help to spread the word as John has done with this website. Here's to educating the world!Best wishes to you all,Alison

Dear All,

I was originally told that I have LPHS & then many years later found (on a standing IVU) that I had a hypermobile kidney & the renal colic was caused by the ureter kinking.  I had the kidney fixed in place & the pain on that side was cured.  The other side needs fixing.  I have since found research from a doctor in Saudi showing that  nephroptosis can lead on to LPHS & that there may well be a link between the two conditions. Interestingly he says that like the patients many research doctors are not believed especially since the conditions were disparaged 50 years ago.

Anyone interested in seeing this research can contact me for details.

I have made a presentation about nephroptosis & living with kidney pain & it is being presented at the National Kidney Federation conference this weekend but someone is presenting it for me as I am in too much pain to go.  I often wonder why LPHS is so poorly known about when there are so many sufferers.  Someone with LPHS could do a talk at the kidney conference next year in order to raise awareness.  I have also written an article on www.kidney.org under perceptions about living with kidney pain & designed a leaflet

Please do all you can to educate your local health professionals & population about LPHS.  My case is now used in the induction training of doctros to our local A&E department & I have been asked to write an article for the BMJ in association with the A&E consultant in an attempt to challenge their views on pain management & treating people with severe kidney pain.  i have also written an article for a magazine.

In case you think that you are in too much pain to do anything like this I would like to encourage you as I have to take Diamorphine (Heroin) & Oxycodone to relieve the pain, cannot work & spend a lot of time on the floor in agony.  However when I can sit long enough I can use a keyboard & help to spread the word as John has done with this website.

Here's to educating the world!

Best wishes to you all,

Alison
