Hello Everyone,
I haven't been on the site for a while, so hope all is well, or as well as can be expected.
I had my blood test results etc back last week, and after 26 years of having lphs, I am now showing signs of decreased renal function. It isn't at a dangerous level, so hopefully it will stay stable for another 26 years! At least i now know why I've been feeling really tired, increased nausea etc over the past 6 months.
I now have to have my renal function tested every 12 weeks - I have been having it done annually since 1999/2000. So, at least my GP is keeping a close ey on me!
Getting ready for our annual trip to Sorrento, Southern Italy from 5th - 22nd October. I'm looking forward to the relaxation and warmth, ready for the winter months ahead.
Bye for now,
Helen (Koorahk/Koo)

Hi Helen
I'm sorry to hear about your blood test results. My results are still good after 21 years, but my transplanted kidney is shrinking which they say means it is failing -- at least it is still working.
However, should you need a private duty nurse on your trip to Italy I would be willing to work for room and board only. SHOOT! I see you left without me!

I too have returned after a great holiday in Singapore and Malaysia.
Chris and I both recommend it for a quiet holiday without too much noise and plenty of cheap dining, excursions and an abundance of wildlife.
Chris didn't have any problems (touch wood) apart from sunburn whilst I got all the mosquito bites for both of us(3) which is very unusual.
At our hotel in Langkawi we woke up to the sound of Mynah birds and Tree frogs outside our chalet although the Macaque Monkeys were sometimes noisy neighbours and the Hornbills just looked proudly on at all going on around them.
Whilst dining,we watched Chit Chats (Gecko's) running around the walls and ceilings chasing insects to eat.
We want to go back.
John

Hello Everyone,
David and I had a really relaxing time in Sorrento again, but the end of our holiday ended in sadness. My beloved William - one of my elderly Korat cats (16 yrs) - had to be put to sleep the day before our return. Our son phoned us on the Tuesday to tell us that he'd had to take William to the vet that night and that he was seriously ill. At first the vets (4!) were baffled as he was showing fluid on the lungs and a collapsed diaphragm which is often sign of being hit by a car, but William is an indoor/cattery cat. Some of the fluid was drained and another X-ray taken and it then showed his diaphragm was there and that what they'd thought was all fluid, was in fact a large mass. My poor William had lung cancer and he dteriorated very quickly so I wasn't able to get home to say goodbye and hold him one last time. I made Trystan promise me that he wouldn't let William linger if it was hopeless. I miss my 'teddy' cat so very much and I'm not coping with his loss very well, but I'll get through it eventually...
So, if some of you haven't heard from me since I returned home 2 weeks ago, I'm sorry. Hope the postcards arrived - eventually!
love from Helen (Koorahk)

Hi Kim,
thankyou so much for your kind words and I'm sorry I went without you! I don't think I would 've got you thru' security at the airport - there were so many restrictions still in force.
I'll e-mail you soon
Helen x
